Help for Those with Insurance

The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council’s Community Health Advocates help people get, keep, and use health insurance.

Do you have insurance now, but still have questions and need help? Or, are you not eligible for insurance now and need access to healthcare? Our Community Health Advocates can help you understand, utilize, and navigate your health insurance.

Community Health Advocates is a program of the Community Service Society of New York (CSS)

We can help you:

  • Access care
  • Switch primary care providers
  • Find specialists
  • Understand how your insurance works – copays, deductibles, preauthorization
  • Understand your explanation of benefits
  • Resolve billing issues
  • Understand your rights and responsibilities
  • Explain how to appeal service denials
